Searching for a Dataset to Integrate
From your “Your Resources” page click on the “Search” button on the tDAR toolbar. Hold your cursor over the “Search” button and select “Basic” search from the drop down menu. If you do not know the title of the dataset or want to search by specific categories (i.e. geographic area, time period, material type, etc.) select “Advanced Search” from the “Search” drop down menu.
.

Basic Search
The basic search function will organize your results based on the relevance of the terms you have keyed into the search box and the resources in tDAR. tDAR will prioritize the returns in this order by title, the metadata inside of the resource, and finally the entries in the dataset. The "Basic Search" allows you to type in a key word or phrase and will also allow you to limit your search by resource type.
.
.
For the purposes of data integration, you will need to click on the box in front of "documents" to deselect the document box. The "Datasets" box should already be selected for you.
.

.
Next type in a keyword or phrase into the text box. tDAR will search all the titles, metadata, and datasets for what you have typed into the keyword search.
.

.
Click the "Submit" button and you will then be taken to the search results page.
.

.
On the results page, scroll down and find the dataset you are interested in and click on the title to be taken to the metadata page. You can also sort the data in different ways using the "Refine Search" box on the right hand side of the screen.
.

.
The refine search allows you to sort the datasets returned from your keyword or phrase search in five different ways.
.

.
Once you have found your first dataset you will need to "Bookmark" the dataset, this will put the dataset into "Workspace." The workspace is used as a way of saving any resources, not just datasets, you are currently using for integration and other types of research. For more detailed information on the "Workspace" or on "Bookmarking" click on one of the following links.
